2025 Policy Updates
Due to the current increase in appointment requests and overall staff shortage, we decided in December of 2022 to implement a cancellation/no-show fee and a new client deposit.
Though we understand some of the frustration, we do appreciate your understanding and compliance with this policy.
Over the last few years, we have seen a decrease in canceled or no-show appointments and our staff has become more consistent. To that end The Animal Hospital of Signal Mountain (AHSM) will be amending its policy for appointments and surgical visits effective February 1, 2025.
This change was implemented to maximize visit availability and maintain consistency in your pet’s health while also allowing for life’s unpredictability. This policy also affords our clients timely and attentive service. The new policy is as follows:
Type of Appointments:
Medical appointments (exception appointments and rechecks with technician and drop offs)
Surgical appointments
Grooming appointments

New Client Deposit
New First Time/First Appointment Clients
The deposit will be a set amount (changeable annually at a rate increase, and based on the current exam charge), A medical appointment deposit of $75.00 and a surgical deposit of $110.00, will be collected at the time of booking your appointment. This deposit will be used as a credit at the time of your visit. If you need to cancel, a call at least 24 hours before your visit will be necessary to receive a refund. You may also opt to leave it on your account and reschedule.

Cancellation/No Show Fee
The Cancellation/No-Show Fee is a set amount of $75.00 and will be collected in the following manner.
Any client with a medical or surgical appointment that cancels 23 hours or later before their appointment time and has not rescheduled will have the fee charged to their account.
All No Show Medical and Surgical Appointments
All rescheduled medical and surgical appointments will need to make a $75 deposit and if that appointment is missed the fee will be kept. If the appointment is kept the fee will be used towards the appointment.

Appointment Policy
All Grooming Appointments must be checked in by 7:00 am – 8:00 am. At the time of drop off please let the groomer aware if you have a preferred pick up time. If not, do not expect a pick-up time prior to 5:30PM.
Please allow medical appointments to take 45 min to 1-hour from check-in time to checkout time.
If you are more than 10 min late for your appointment, you may need to wait longer or reschedule. Annual exams are necessary for all medication refills, prescription diets, and heartworm/flea/tick medications.

Prescriptions and Refills
Please allow 24-48 hours for prescription refills when ordering from AHSM or our online store.
We offer discounts for ordering ahead and using a stored card. Ask about our Grab N GO program.
A written prescription is required for any prescription medications, prescription diets, or heartworm/flea/tick medications purchased from an outside vendor or pharmacy.
We will not email or fax prescriptions.
Surgery: All soft tissue elective and emergent surgical procedures will have a laser surgical fee as part of the estimate.
